BRENT WAS ON A HIGH he hoped he would never come down from. He had just won the Alderman election three weeks ago, By default actually, he was unopposed but the job was his. He was living his last days as a cop and couldn’t wait. He was off work today and was just going to watch football all morning. He was relaxing in his recliner when his front door suddenly and violently flung open, slamming into the wall beside it hard enough to leave the impression of the doorknob in the sheetrock.

Brent got to his feet and his eyes widened when he saw the man in the bowler hat walk into his front room.

“B-boss” Bent stuttered. “What’s up?”

“Did you know they went after the children?” The man in the bowler hat asked.

“The children?” Brent asked before answering his own question, “You mean you’re kids,right, oh fuck who did what? What do you mean?”

“They’re gone.” The man in the bowler hat said.

“Oh shit!” Brent exclaimed.

The man in the bowler hat sighed, before speaking, “I can see you didn’t know anything about it, keep your ears open. If you hear a fucking thing you tell Tara immediatly.”

“Yeah of course.” Brent responded.

The man in the bowler hat then turned around and walked out of Brent’s house and then took off straight up into the air. Still in a state of confusion Brent walked over and closed his front door, feeling grateful that it wasn’t him his boss was after.
